Philip K. Dick on the War Between the States
- The North adopted the Hegelian view of state as a real entity rather than an abstraction which has led to the massive centralized government as bad as the Soviet Union. The original model for the U.S. was modeled by Jefferson after the models of the American Indian Federations. There is no doubt that the founding fathers were designing a system of independent and allied states based on these Indian models. Jefferson would have been appalled by Lincoln’s contesting the supremacy of states rights.

Centralization works fine as long as you have decent rulers ruling the centralization state. Centralization fails massively when have bad rulers. American would not be the super power it is today without Lincoln. It also wouldn't be headed towards it's early grave. There will be no America by the end of this century and good riddance to it.
The history of super powers finds them heading towards early graves.

Sheer nonsense. States are real entities, not abstractions, and they're being so does not in the least lead to massive centralization except as a corruption of their proper end.
